# Delete a project

Caution: Deleting a project is permanent. You cannot recover a removed project!

Before you can delete a project, you must first deactivate it.

### Deactivate the project

* Go to **\[Your project] > Settings > Project settings.**
* Click **Deactivate project**.

**Note:** Deactivating a project will also deactivate any remaining active channels in the project.

### Delete the project

* Go to **\[Your project] > Settings > Project settings.**
* Click the gear dropdown and select **Delete project**.
* Type "delete" in the field and click **Delete project** to confirm.
