Step 5: Configuring campaign settings
After setting up your campaign generator, it’s time to configure the campaign settings. We will walk you through each option available in the Campaign settings tab in short, for in-depth explanations refer to this article!
1. Campaign template
Name your campaign template: Use a combination of static and dynamic field names to create a unique campaign template name. Ensure the name is not identical to others.
If you want to synchronize with existing Bol Ads campaigns, use the same campaign template name. Channable will then manage those existing campaigns.
2. Countries
Choose the countries where your ads will be shown:
- The Netherlands (NL)
- Belgium (BE)
3. Targeting channels
Select the platforms where your ads will be visible:
- Mobile
- Tablet
- Desktop
- App
4. Ad group targeting pages
Define where on Bol.com your ads should appear:
- Search: Ads appear in search results.
- Product: Ads appear on product pages.
- Category: Ads appear for specific product categories when browsing the Bol catalog without a search term.
5. Daily budget
Set the maximum amount you want to spend per day.
6. Total budget
Specify the total budget for the entire campaign.
7. ACoS target percentage (automatic campaign)
Define the ACoS (Advertising Cost of Sale) target required by Bol.
8. Set bids (manual campaign)
Setting bids at the keyword level allows you to control when and where your ads appear, optimizing visibility and performance. This gives you more control over your budget and ensures your Ads targets the most valuable keywords.

Step 6: Setting up keywords
Depending on your campaign type, you’ll have different options for keyword targeting.
Positive keywords (manual campaign only)
Keywords: Define keywords using dynamic fields, with two match types available:
- Phrase match
- Exact match
Keywords can consist of multiple words, and bol will match them differently to the actual search terms used.
Negative keywords
Available in both automatic and manual campaigns. Use these to prevent your ads from showing when certain search terms are used.
Step 7: Preview your results
Once satisfied with the results, activate the channel and send your ads to bol, more information about the preview tab can be found on this page.
Automation rules
Automation is the final step in the campaign setup. Here, you can create rules to optimize your campaign based on performance data from bol. You can use this part of the Ad channel to for example: move keywords from automated campaigns, which are performing well, to manual campaigns with bigger budgets for example.
Note: Automation rules take effect after a certain amount of performance data has been collected.
