Creating product variants for Galaxus
Setting up product variants on Galaxus requires careful attention to detail to ensure that variants are grouped and displayed correctly. Follow the steps below to create and manage product variants for Galaxus.
1. Consistent Product Title
The Product Title must be consistent across all variants for Galaxus to automatically group them under a single listing. This is a crucial step to avoid duplication and confusion in the product listings.
-
Title Format: The Product Title should contain only the core product name. It should not include details like:
- Brand (e.g., “Apple”)
- Category or product type (e.g., “Smartphone”)
- Specifications such as size, color, or material (e.g., “Black”, “128 GB”)
- Invitations or incentives to buy (e.g., “Special offer”, “Limited edition”)
- Trademark, copyright, or other special symbols
- Manufacturer numbers before or after the product title, unless the manufacturer number is the product title.
Example:
-
Correct: “iPhone 12 Pro”
-
Incorrect: “Apple iPhone 12 Pro Mobile Phone 256 GB Black”
Keep the title concise, with a maximum length of 100 characters.
2. Ensuring accurate and unique product titles
Ensure product titles have correct spelling and capitalization. Use title case (e.g., “Nitro Ultra Turbo Extra 2023”) and avoid all capital letters. If applicable, include manufacturer numbers only when they represent the actual product name. In situations where product titles are too generic, consider using an imaginary or synonym name to differentiate products.
3. Handling variants via the Variant Name field
The Variant Name field is used by Galaxus to create product variants.
-
For example, for different colors of a product, the Product Title might be “Running Shoes”, while the Variant Name would specify “Red” or “Blue”.
Galaxus will group the variants based on the Product Title, while still displaying the options for the customer to choose from.
4. Image requirements
Each variant must have its own image that meets Galaxus' guidelines (600px, white background, no overlays). Images with several variant products (e.g., several color variants of a product) are not allowed.
For more information on image requirements, refer to this section of our help center article.
