This article describes how to fix the following error in your Cdiscount API's preview screen:
This error means that Cdiscount is not yet familiar with the EAN code you are sending and therefore informs you to add the product information necessary to add this EAN code to their database.
Step 1 - Categorize your products
The first step is to make sure all your products are assigned to Cdiscount categories, you can do this in the "Categories" step of the Cdiscount API. Make sure you categorize 100% of your products, you can use the generate categories function for this.
Step 2 - Check your "Build" step
The "Build" step contains a few important fields to get your EANs accepted as new products. Make sure you fill them all in and make sure they are following the specifications in the table below:
Field name | Specifications |
Description |
The product description with product-specific information which does not change from one vendor to another. |
Marketing Description |
Extensive description of the product. - Allows images, videos and HTML |
Short label (= title) | The short label is the title that will appear in the shopping cart and on the customer’s bill. It should contain the brand and model name/number of the product. Example : KODAK Easyshare M530 Orange - Max. 30 characters - No price/stock/delivery time data - No abbreviations, special characters (slash, anti-slash, etc.) or symbols - No URL or HTML - In French |
Long label |
The long label is the title of the product that appears on the product page on Cdiscount. - Max. 132 characters |
Brand | The Brand/manufacturer of the product. It is not your shop name or the name of the product model, but a brand of its own. For example: "Disney" and not "Mickey Mouse" or "The Mickey Mouse Store". |
Images | At least one image, preferably multiple. Make sure they follow the Cdiscount image guidelines, which can be found here: https://dev.cdiscount.com/marketplace/?pagename=Product#Product |
Shipping information | At least 3 different shipping methods must be filled in : Standard, Tracked & Registered |
Note: Next to the fields in the table above, make sure you followed the steps in our guide for setting up the Cdiscount API.
Step 3 - Fill in the attribute builder
The third and final step is to fill in the attribute builder. Different attributes might be required in different categories, so check the attribute builder for all your categories.
If there are required fields for the selected category that are not filled in, they will show as red columns. For Cdiscount, many categories have no required fields. In that case the columns will show as grey, meaning that you don't have to fill them in.
