In this article, you’ll learn how to connect bol to your Channable account and set up a Bol API to automatically update your Bol product listings.
Important: If you add products after setting up your bol API or if your products don’t meet bol's requirements, you might see errors like ‘productinformatie zwak’ (weak product information) or missing images in your bol seller account. To fix this, complete the Categories and Attributes steps.
Before you start, make sure:
- you’re logged out of your bol account: Staying logged in can cause automatic login issues when connecting Channable to Bol.
- your products have valid EAN (European Article Number) codes: bol will only list products with a valid EAN code.
- your connection hasn’t expired: An API failure can occur if your bol connection expires. If this happens, refresh your connection.
- your shop settings match your market: If your shop country is the Netherlands, your products will be listed on bol NL. If your shop country is Belgium, your products will appear on bol BE.

Step 1: Connect to bol
- Go to Projects > [Your project].
- Navigate to APIs and click + Add new API.
- Click + Add a new connection and select bol.
- Provide a label (name) for your connection (e.g. “bol”).
- Click Connect with Bol. Channable redirects you to log in to your bol account.
After you log in, bol will direct you back to Channable, and your connection will appear.
Step 2: Create your API
- Select your new bol connection.
- For Name, choose a name for your API.
- For Unique ID per item, select a field to pull your product's ID data. (This is often ‘id’).
-
For Content language, select ‘Dutch’ or ‘French’ to determine if your products are listed in Dutch or French respectively.
To list products in both Dutch and French in the same bol Seller account, you’ll need to create a separate bol API. If you have separate seller accounts for bol NL and bol FR, you can set up a second bol connection and bol API by following the same steps outlined in this article. - Click Continue.
Step 3: Create product listings
- In your bol API, go to the Build step.
- In the Shared attributes tab, configure the following information for your API.
-
At Item, map your imported fields to the appropriate marketplace fields. (e.g. “title” for ‘Title’, “gtin” for ‘EAN’)
You can hover over the question mark (?) icon for more information on specific field requirements.
- At Delivery code (optional), set a shipping time for your products.
- At Volume discount (optional), you can set discounts for customers who bulk buy your products.
- At Price reduction (optional), you can opt in or out of bol’s reduced commission rates offer for eligible products. You can also configure Channable to automatically disclude your products if the change results in a net loss, or set a maximum acceptable loss.
- For Images, link the images or media assets to include in your bol product listings.
- Click Save.
Step 4: Fulfill GPSR and DSA requirements
The European Union (EU) has introduced new GPSR and DSA requirements for online platforms, including marketplaces.
In order to become compliant with GPSR on Bol, follow these steps.
- Set up one or more economic operator entities in your Bol Seller account according to the step 1. Adding your economic operators in these instructions
-
Copy the name of each individual economic operator and add them to the field 'Economic Operator' in Shared attributes in the Build step of your bol integration in Channable.
- If you use multiple economic operators, create a new project field and use rules to divide the names of your economic operators among your products.
- Execute the exporter to add the operators to the offers on bol.
Tips:
- To remove an existing operator from a product, leave the Marktaandeelnemer field empty.
- To change an existing operator into a new one, add the new operator name into the ‘Economic operator’ field.
Step 5: Send product listings to bol
- Go to Settings.
- Under Status: click Activate project, and Save.
- Return to APIs and select Settings in the Edit column of your API.
- Click Activate API > Save.
- Click Back to return to the APIs overview page.
- Click Run now to send your product listings to bol.
Step 6: Check your listings for errors
- In Channable, go to the Result step of your bol API to check if your product listings have errors. If a product has an error you can click on it to learn more about the cause and how to resolve it.
- In your bol seller account in your product overview, check for the message “productinformatie zwak” (weak product information). If it appears, you’ll need to manually fill your bol API category and attributes and optimize your data.
