Whenever a new export feed is created, the latest available mapping for that channel is saved to that export feed. The mapping determines which fields are mandatory, recommended and optional for the channel. To ensure that changes to the specification of the export feed don't break your existing feeds, we keep this mapping as it was when the export feed was first created.
Specifications of channels can change over time. If you want the Finalize step of an export feed to represent the latest specification, you can update the mapping.
You can update the mapping of an export feed by navigating to Feeds in the left hand sidebar and selecting the Settings tab of the feed you want to update the mapping for. Now, click on the gear icon and then on update mapping. After confirming, the mapping of fields in the Finalize step of the feed will be updated.
What does updating the mapping of an export feed do?
By updating the mapping of an export feed, the tool will check the existing fields that are mapped in the feed template and if anything has been changed or added to this. These changes and additions will then appear in the Finalize step.
Note: Updating the mapping of an export feed will not remove export mapping fields you have connected to your own fields in the Finalize step. If a field no longer exists in the channel specification but you are using it, it will be changed into a user-provided (custom) field.
