Do you want to learn interactively all basics related to the creation of an API export, or how to make an advanced setup for an API in Channable? Learn how to create a Channacademy account in the Channable app through this Help Center article and start with the Basic APIs or Expert APIs course.
Before proceeding with this guide, ensure that you have set up the AliExpress API. If you haven’t, please follow the setup guide first.
Step 1: Configuring the Build step for grouped variants
To effectively group your variants into a single 'parent' product on AliExpress, certain configurations are necessary during the Build step:
-
Item group ID: Assign a unique 'Item Group ID' that is consistent across all variant products within a group. Commonly, this field is named 'item_group_id' or 'parent_id'.
-
Variant - specific images: If your variants have distinct colors or other features, each requiring unique images, link these images to the appropriate variants under the Images tab. This ensures that the right images display for each variant attribute
Step 2: Configuring the Attributes step for grouped variants
In the 'Attributes per category' tab, specific settings must be adjusted:
-
Variant attribute configuration: Identify and set the necessary attributes as Variant attributes. For example, if your product variants differ by color, enable the 'Use "Color" on variant level' switch. This action groups all variants under a common Item Group ID, allowing customers to select desired colors.
-
Multiple variant attributes: If your products vary by more than one feature (e.g., color and size), activate the corresponding switches for each attribute you wish to use as a variant attribute.
Important note: If an Item Group ID is designated for variant grouping, at least one attribute must be set as a Variant Attribute to ensure correct variant display on AliExpress. -
Linking variant images: After setting the desired Variant attributes to 'Yes' and executing the API, a new option for Variant images appears. If your product grouping involves attributes like 'size' and 'color', and you have images corresponding to these variants, make sure to check the 'Variant images' box for the relevant attribute.
Step 3: Send your grouped products to AliExpress
Once you have completed the above configurations:
- Activate and execute your API.
- Verify on your AliExpress account that your variants are grouped correctly and display the intended variant attributes and images.
For instance, after configuration, a t-shirt listing on AliExpress should correctly display options for color and size variants, along with corresponding images.
Conclusion
Setting up grouped variants can streamline the shopping experience on AliExpress and improve product visibility. Follow these steps carefully to ensure your products are grouped and displayed correctly.
