How can you change your BMM-keywords In Channable? (in response to changes in Google Ads)

In February 2021, Google Ads began to change the behavior of 'Broad Match Modifier (BMM)' keywords and 'Phrase match' keywords. As of July 2021, it will no longer be possible to create the BMM keywords in Google Ads. You will not lose traffic on your keywords because of this, but the keywords will be matched with 'Phrase match'. Since Google Ads will no longer support this type of keyword, it will no longer be possible to create BMM-keywords and send them to Google Ads using Channable. What can you do in Channable to customize the Broad Match Modifier (BMM) keywords?

First, take a good look at which keywords need to be modified and to what type these keywords need to be modified. You can customize the BMM keywords in two ways in Channable.

Convert manually

The first possibility is manually changing the type in the text ad generator in the build step. When you change the type, we will pause the old BMM keywords and send the keywords with the new type to your Google Ads account.

Convert in Bulk

By using the 'Bulk action button', you can modify the BMM-keywords for all generators per project to the type of keyword you want to use. Again, all old keywords with the type Broad match modified will be paused in your Google Ads account and new keywords will be created in your Google Ads account with the type you selected.

What happens when I have a new keyword type selected in Channable?

We will pause the BMM keyword in Google Ads and we will create a new keyword of the type you have chosen. This applies both to changing the type manually and to using the future bulk convert button.

Can you use the bulk converter button for just a selection of generators, instead of all text ad generators in one project?

No, this is not possible. When you use the bulk convert button, all keywords will be converted to the type you have chosen. If you want a different type of keyword for certain generators you will have to manually change the generators one by one.

Are you going to remove or modify keywords without permission?

Channable never removes keywords from Google. Channable only pauses the keywords in Google ads. Pausing the keywords only happens when you have taken action yourself in your Channable account. When you have changed the 'Broad Match Modifier' keywords to another type in Channable we will pause the old type of keywords.
