# What is a Performance Max Retail campaign?
Performance Max (PMax) is Google’s goal-based campaign type that streamlines and simplifies advertising across Google properties. Instead of setting up separate campaigns for YouTube, Display, Search, Discover, Gmail, and Maps, you set up a single campaign that targets all of these platforms. This unified buying service helps advertisers optimize performance and reduces the complexity and overhead of managing multiple campaign types.
Performance Max Retail refers to Google Shopping ads–related campaigns.
