# Set up a feed - Quality step

The **Quality** step indicates possible issues with the quality of your feed. This is based on how complete and accurate your data is, according to your chosen channel. You need to solve the issues that are listed here to improve your quality score. Use the solutions given to guide you.

#### Mandatory, Recommended and Optional fields

**Mandatory fields**

If these fields are not mapped, or the data is incorrect or incomplete, the channel will not accept or list your items.

**Recommended fields**

We recommend that you map these fields and ensure that the data is correct and complete, as their mandatory status depends on the item.

**Optional fields**

Map these fields and ensure that the data is correct and complete to improve the performance and visibility of your items.

### How to solve common issues

To improve your quality score, solve the issues that are listed. Use the tips in the ‘How to fix’ sections below.

<details>

<summary>Issue: 'description'/'size'/'brand' contains values that are empty</summary>

#### What does this issue mean?

The field linked in the **Mapping** step is empty for a number of products.

#### How do I solve this issue?

The solution depends on which information is missing and if the information is available in another field in your items.

For example, if the size is missing for some products, but you have always included the size in your titles, you can use a [search for value rule](https://app.gitbook.com/s/u8whzIfip72Kvn3M1bsc/rules-bulk-edit-and-enrich/how-to-use-actions-then-in-rules/rule-action-search-for-value) to fill in the missing sizes. However, if the information is not available in another field, you need to add the information in your import file.

<details>

<summary>Issue: 'availability'/'condition'/'MPN' is not connected to a field</summary>

#### What does this issue mean?

In the **Mapping** step, there is no ‘Internal field’ linked to the ‘Channel field name’ field.

#### How do I solve this issue?

You need to link an internal field to the channel field name in the **Mapping** step. For example, for the channel field name "availability" you can link the internal field "availability".

</details>

<details>

<summary>Issue: 'id'/'gtin'/'ean' contains values that are not unique</summary>

#### What does this issue mean?

There are multiple items that have the same identifier. Identifiers such as ID, GTIN, and EAN codes should be unique for every item.

#### How do I solve this issue?

If the items that share the identifier are the same itemUse a deduplicate items rule.If the items are different variants of the same productChange the identifiers in your import file so each variant has a unique identifier.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Issue: 'gtin'/'ean' contains invalid EAN/GTIN values</summary>

#### What does this issue mean?

An EAN or GTIN code is valid only when it meets specific requirements. If not, it's considered invalid.

#### How do I solve this issue?

* **The level of the error is ‘Mandatory’:** The code is required and must be filled in correctly for all items. You can either exclude the items that contain an invalid code from your feed, or change and add the codes in your import file so that they become valid.
* **The level of the issue is ‘Recommended’:** Check the items that contain the error and change the code in your import file to a valid code. If the code is empty, you will not necessarily need to add it to your import file.
