Generate category rules from a field

Generate category-rule suggestions from a product field, then review and save each mapping.

When to use this method

Use Generate from field when a product field contains values that can help map products to channel categories. You review and complete each suggested rule before saving it.

Limit generated suggestions

Channable shows a maximum of 35 pages of generated categories. Use broader mappings when several detailed source categories map to the same channel category.

Open manual categorization

1. In Channable, open your channel.
2. Go to Categories.
3. Click Manual categorization.

Select a field for rule suggestions

1. Click Generate from field.
2. In Category field, select a field with useful category context.
3. Click Save.

Channable creates partially completed category rules from the field values.

Complete the suggested rules

1. In each suggested rule, click Set to category.
2. Select the appropriate channel category from the suggested options.
3. Repeat this for the rules in the Manual categorization list.

The category options are listed by prediction confidence.

Save and review coverage

1. Click Save to run the category rules.
2. Review the categorized and uncategorized item counts.
3. Update or add rules until the mappings meet your needs.
