How to use conditional objects in the Image Editor

Show or hide template layers based on product data conditions.

What are conditional objects?

Conditional objects are a bit like mini rules in Channable in the image editor (on object level). Just like the standard rules you use to clean up your product data, conditional objects follow a similar logic: “IF an item meets specific criteria, THEN the object performs an action” (show or hide).

Instead of applying a rule to your entire product catalog, you apply it to a specific layer or “object” in your image template such as a badge, a price tag, or brand logo.

Example

If you have a “Sale” badge on your product images and you only want this badge to appear when a product is actually discounted.

Let’s say you want to hide it if the sale price field is empty:

You select the sale badge in the Image Editor and set the condition:

  • “IF sale_price is empty, THEN Hide this object.”

Show or hide objects

  • Show: The object is invisible by default and only shows under certain conditions.

e.g. a "Free Shipping" icon only appears if shipping_cost is 0.

  • Hide: The object is visible by default but is hidden under certain conditions.

e.g. removing a "New Arrival" badge if the created_date is older than 30 days.

How to use conditional objects

  1. In the Image Editor, select the object you want to add a condition to.

  2. In the Design tab, go to Condition, then click Create condition.

Not sure how conditions work? Learn more about rule conditions.

  3. A Condition modal will show where you can set up the conditions for the object.

  4. In Options, you can pause or delete the condition.

You can also create a condition from the Layers tab. Find the object you want to set a condition for, and click the icon.

Good to know

When an object is hidden by an active condition, it will not be visible on the canvas. But if you click on the object in the Layers tab then outline of the object will show on the canvas.
