**You'll need**

* A Google Ads account

**Good to know**

* Insights for Google Ads uses data from shopping campaigns (including PMax)

## **Set up Insights for Google Ads**

To set up your Google Ads Insights dashboard, follow these steps:

1. In your Channable project, go to **Insights > Create Insights**.
2. At **Connect with**, select **\[your Google Ads** **connection]** or create a new one.
3. Fill in the following information:
 1. For **Name**, give your dashboard a distinct name (e.g. 'Google Ads NL - 90 days')
 2. For **Date range setting**, choose between a [Rolling date range](#user-content-fn-1)[^1] or [Fixed date range](#user-content-fn-2)[^2].
 3. For **Date range**, choose the date range you want to pull data from (if fixed range) or the maximum number of days to pull data from (if rolling date range).
 4. For **Channel Unique ID**, select the field containing your item IDs.
 5. For **Google Ads accounts**, click **+ Add Google Ads** account to choose a specific Google Ads account. Selecting more than one Ads account merges all the information in the Dashboard.
4. Set **Advanced settings** (optional)**:**
 1. For **Offset days** (optional), select how many days to shift the end of the rolling date range back. This lets you [exclude recent data while keeping the view up to date](/changelog/2026/july.md#new-offset-date-ranges-for-insights-google-a-ds).
 2. For **Ad network types**, select ad network types to limit the data on the dashboard. [Learn more](/changelog/2026/june.md#insights-changes-in-reporting-data).
 3. For **Feed label target countries** (optional), select a country to limit data on the dashboard.
 4. For **Group on fields** (optional), you can combine your results by shared details like **Brand** or **Category**. Instead of showing every product on its own, your dashboard will add up totals for each group.

{% hint style="info" %}

#### Example

If you sell sports shoes, grouping by `Brand` will group all your items together for the dashboard, so you see total sales by brand (e.g., Nike, Adidas) rather than a huge list showing all 1,000 items line by line.
{% endhint %}

5. Click **New Insights dashboard**.

Within a few minutes, your dashboard will appear with an overview of your products.

[^1]: A rolling date range is a dynamic period that's relative to the current day (e.g. 'Last 30 days')

[^2]: A fixed date range has a defining start and end point (e.g. 'January 1 - July 31)

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://helpcenter.channable.com/manage-improve-product-data/insights/insights-for-ads/insights-for-google-ads.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
