# Rule action: Modify text

### Use cases

* Remove HTML from your product descriptions
* Capitalize the first letter (character) per word
* Remove line breaks
* Remove unnecessary whitespaces

Use the **Modify text** action to remove elements and make changes to the styling or formatting of a text field.

### Remove HTML

Removes all HTML code (for example, `"<p>"`) from the description of an item. Most channels do not accept HTML code in listing descriptions (Marktplaats is an exception).

### Remove line breaks

Removes line breaks that can make a CSV file messy.

### Remove unnecessary whitespaces

Removes whitespaces that can affect the validity of your listing fields. For example, for product ID “   654  ”.
