# Shared rules

**Who can use this feature:**

You need the **Core Plus** or **Core Pro** plan in your [Channable subscription](https://app.gitbook.com/s/8y3q10FnokmlpzYq3YPS/manage-your-subscription/channables-pricing-plans) to use this feature.

Using shared rules helps you to apply one rule to multiple projects and channels in your Channable company. With shared rules, you create and set up a rule once and convert it to a shared rule to use it in any of your projects and channels.

### Before you start

#### Rules in Channable

In Channable, you can use rules to edit and enrich your product data to meet the requirements of your chosen channel. Learn more about [rules in Channable](https://helpcenter.channable.com/manage-improve-product-data/rules-bulk-edit-and-enrich/rules-in-channable) and how to use them.

#### How shared rules work

A shared rule is a rule that you share and use in multiple projects and channels in your Channable company. When you make changes to a shared rule, those changes apply to all places that rule is used. You can [create a shared rule](#create-a-shared-rule) or [convert an existing rule to a shared rule](#convert-a-rule-to-a-shared-rule).

Go to the **Rules** step of your channel.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click on the rule that you would like to change to a shared rule.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click the **Options** dropdown and select **Convert to shared rule**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
In the popup, click **Convert to shared rule** to confirm.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Add a shared rule to a channel

Once you have converted a rule to a shared rule, you can add it to another channel.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Go to the **Rules** step of your channel.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
In the **Rules** tab, click **New rule**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **New shared rule**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click on the shared rule that you want to add from your list.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Overview of your shared rules

To manage all your shared rules, there are two options:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Option 1:

* Go to the **Rules** step of your channel.
* In the **Rules** tab, click **New rule**.
* Click **New shared rule** and then click **View shared rules**.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}
Option 2:

* Go to the **Rules** step of your channel that uses a shared rule.
* Hover over the rule and click **Go to main rule**.
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

Here you can view the **Usage** for each of your shared rules, which shows which projects and channels use the shared rule.

### Edit a shared rule

Important: Be careful — when you edit a shared rule, every project and channel that uses this rule is affected.

For example, if a shared rule is used in both your Google Shopping feed and your Meta feed, changes to the shared rule apply to both feeds (including the channel where you originally created the rule).

To edit a shared rule:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Go to the **Rules** step of one of your channels that uses the shared rule or the channel where you created the shared rule.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Hover over the rule and click **Go to main rule**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Detach a rule from a shared rule

Caution: If you detach a rule from a shared rule, you cannot reattach it to the shared rule. You will need to delete the rule and add the shared rule to the channel again.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Click on the rule that you want to detach.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click **Detach from shared rule**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
In the popup, click **Confirm**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Pause where a shared rule is used

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Click on the rule that you want to pause.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click the **Options** dropdown and select **Pause rule**.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Delete a shared rule

Important: You can’t delete a shared rule until you have detached it from all the channels that it is shared with.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Click on the rule that you want to delete.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Click the **Options** dropdown and select **Delete rule**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
In the popup, click **Delete** to confirm.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}
