Advertising or selling online can be a real struggle, especially if you want to optimize your data for different channels. You can do that manually or create rules in every export channel. However, when you have a lot of channels that could benefit from the same changes, you can use master rule groups. This article will give examples of the type of rules you can use in the Master Rule section of our tool.
If you want to know how to set up a Master Rule group and how to enable them for your export channels, please check out these articles.
Below are some examples of rules you can use in these Master Rule groups.
General Filter
Do some items lack information like images, price etc.? These are issues in your feed that you certainly want to eliminate for any export. If you use a general filter, you save time sorting this out for every export.
Excluding Seasonal Products
It’s winter, there is snow outside and your data feed contains winter coats but also beachwear, swimming suits, and other summer fashion. At this time of year, you only want to advertise products that are relevant for this cold weather and exclude anything that is related to summer. With master rules, you can easily do that for your entire product feed and won’t have to worry about it per channel.
Exclude blacklisted products
Some brands or categories are not meant to be advertised, so you usually blacklist them. Even if you work in travel, you might want to exclude certain destinations. Create a master rule group for the items you want to blacklist and be done with it forever!
Checking & Excluding Invalid EANs
It could be that some of your products have invalid EANs. This could cause issues in exports, therefore it's good to check this so you can fix them, or exclude these products. To do this, you can use our invalid GTIN or EAN rule.
Modifying Text
Does your feed contain HTML or textual discrepancies (e.g. unwanted capitals)? The modify text rule can be useful to use for all your products and exports.
