Otto is a leading German ecommerce marketplace that lists a wide range of products. It’s Germany’s largest online retailer for fashion and lifestyle products, with strict requirements to maintain listing quality.
In this article, you’ll learn how to set up an Otto channel to create and manage listings on Otto.

Good to know
- If you don’t have an Otto Partner Connect account, you need to apply to list on Otto.
- Otto has specific requirements to list on their marketplace.
- After products are created, OTTO assigns a MOIN (My OTTO Integration Number) to a product. This is a unique identifier used solely on OTTO.
- Once you run your Otto channel, any existing listings in your OTTO Partner Connect account will be removed.
- It takes at least 24 hours for Otto to process products and images. If 24 hours have passed, contact OTTO for help.
Step 1: Create your Otto channel
- In your Channable account, go to Channels.
- Search for and select Otto.
- Set up your channel settings:
- Name: Provide a unique name for your channel. Used to identify it within Channable.
- Unique ID per item: Select the field containing your product IDs (this is often ‘id’).
- Use master rule group: Add a master rule group or leave this empty.
- Click Save.
Step 2: Categorize your products
- In [your Otto channel], go to the Categories step.
- Use Manual categorization to categorize your products.
Step 3: Create rules to enrich, filter, and refine your product data
When your product data is incomplete or doesn’t match the format that Otto requires, you can use rules to tweak and optimize your product data to meet listing requirements.
- In [your Otto channel], go to the Rules step.
- Click Create rule.
- Use rule templates or create a custom rule based on what you would like to adjust.
- Click Save.

Step 4: Map shared attributes
- In [your Otto channel], go to the Build step.
- Map any attributes marked as Required by marketplace.
- Go over and map any remaining attributes that are relevant for your business.
- Click Save.
Tip: Click Auto-map fields and our AI will automatically map attributes according to data from similar setups.
Step 5: Map category attributes
- In the Build step, click on the Attributes per category tab.
- Click on your first category.
- Map any attributes marked as Required by marketplace.
- Go over and map any remaining attributes that are relevant for your business.
- Click Save.
- Repeat this process for your remaining categories.
Additional requirements for Otto
GPSR and DSA requirements
The European Union (EU) has introduced new GPSR and DSA requirements for online platforms, including marketplaces.
For your OTTO channel in Channable, make sure to fill in these sections in the Shared attributes tab of the Build step:
Product safety (manufacturer information)
At ‘Product safety (manufacturer information)’, you need add the following information:
- Manufacturer or importer: Enter the company name of the manufacturer or importer.
- Address: Provide the complete address, including: Street name and number, Postal code, City Country. Make sure to use commas to separate the address elements, and do not include any extra formatting or line breaks.
- Region: Enter the single country code of the European Economic Area (EEA) members (for example, “NL”, “DE”).
- Email: Enter the email address of the manufacturer or importer.
- Url: Enter a URL of the manufacturer’s or importer's contact information. This is mandatory if no email is provided.
- Phone number: Provide a valid phone number for the manufacturer or importer.
Additional images
At ‘Additional images’ in the ‘Images’ section, you need to add a field that contains an image URL with the product’s safety information. For example, the image URL could contain an image of the product’s safety datasheet or warning label (see the available options at ‘Type’).
Shipping profile ID
You need to set up one or more shipping profiles in your Otto Portal and map the field containing that data here.
- In the Shared attributes tab in the Build step, scroll to the Price & Shipping section.

For Shipping profile ID:
- If all items use the same shipping profile ID: Click the dropdown, select Manual and paste your Shipping ID directly in the field.
- If your product safety information differs per product: Create a new project field, add information to it with a rule, then map the field here (select Project field > [field containing your product safety information]).
- Click Save.
Product reference
The product reference in the Build step groups all variations that you want to combine into one product. This is not visible to your customers.
The product reference can be freely assigned and may consist of a maximum of 50 characters. OTTO then recognizes which products have the same product reference and automatically makes variants out of, (e.g. different sizes, colors, etc.) You can define what distinguishes the variants in the Build step of your channel.
Accept MOIN suggestion
If you upload product information for a product that already exists on OTTO, OTTO will show an error stating that the existing product information has to be used.
To accept using existing product information, set the field Accept MOIN suggestion to True. If you do not want to accept the product information suggested by OTTO, reach out to OTTO Partner Help.
Step 6: Connect to Otto
To send your listings to Otto, you need to connect your channel to your Otto Partner Connect account.
- In [your Otto channel], go to the Settings step.
- At Linked seller account, click Select seller account.

Select an existing account, or add a new account.

If adding a new seller account:
- For Label: Name your seller account connection.
- Click Connect with Otto.

If adding a new seller account:
- We'll redirect you to Otto to log in with your credentials and accept permissions.
Step 7: Activate your channel
- Go to the Settings step of [your Otto channel].
- Click Activate API.
- Click Save.
- Click Run now to send your product listings to Otto.
Your products will be sent to Otto. Otto takes at least 24 hours to process products. If processing takes longer, consider contacting OTTO Seller Help after a few days.
Step 8: Review and fix listing errors
Go to the Result step and click on the Errors tab. This page displays all possible processing errors your product data has at a given moment.
Resolving errors:
- In Description, click on the error name. This takes you to an overview of the products with that error.

In ID, click the ID number and scroll. You should see a red highlighted callout in the section where the error occurred. You can hover over the callout for more information.
- If the error is a mapping error, click View in build to be directed to the attribute you need to map/re-map. The offending attribute is highlighted in blue. For more information about the attribute and its accepted values, hover over the ? icon.
- Resolve the error.
A Successful status in the Results step indicates that your products have been successfully sent to OTTO's staging area for products ("Produktübersicht" in your OTTO GUI). This does not guarantee immediate visibility on OTTO or absence of data submission errors or warnings.
Display restriction: If this is your first time selling on OTTO, you may encounter a Display Restriction. Follow the guidelines provided here to resolve this issue based on your onboarding status.
