money-billsCurrency discrepancies in Shopify imports

After importing your products, you may notice that the currency in Channable does not match the currency displayed in your Shopify store. For example, a product listed in GBP on Shopify might appear in EUR within Channable.

Why this happens

Channable always imports the source currency from your Shopify data. If Shopify automatically converts a price into a local currency based on exchange rates, it often retains the original currency in the underlying data. Channable pulls that original value.

Fixed prices and Shopify Markets

This discrepancy often occurs when using Shopify Markets with multiple countries in a single market.

  • Automatic Conversion: If multiple countries share one market (e.g., a "Pacific" market including Australia and New Zealand), Shopify converts the base price (AUD) to the local currency (NZD) for the customer. Channable will still import the base price (AUD).

  • The Solution: To ensure Channable imports a specific currency for a specific region, you must create a single-country market in Shopify. This allows you to set a fixed price in the local currency, which Channable can then recognize as the source data.
