Import items from WooCommerce

In this article, we explain the steps you have to take when you want to import your products using a Woocommerce based webshop.

Before you start

  • A WooCommerce account 

Good to know

  • All meta fields are automatically included in your import. If you don't want to import meta fields, contact Support.

Step 1: Configure WooCommerce and Channable 

The steps you need to follow depend on your WooCommerce version. 

Note: If you're unsure which version you're using, you can find the version under WooCommerce > Status in your WordPress admin dashboard. 

Version 2.4 and above

  1. In your WooCommerce account, go to Settings.

  2. Go to the Advanced tab and click on the sub-tab REST API.
  3. Click Add key and provide details for your key:
    1. For Description, enter “Channable”.
    2. For Permissions, select Read/Write.
  4. Click Generate API key. This generates a Consumer key and Consumer secret. EN_-_WooCommerce_Generate_API_Key.png
  5. Note your Consumer key and Consumer secret, as you will need them in the next step.

Versions below 2.4 

  1. In your WooCommerce account, go to Users > Your Profile.channable_setting-up_importing-products-importing-products-from-woocommerce-4.png
  2. Scroll to the section WooCommerce API Keys and click the checkbox Generate API Key.
  3. Click Update profile. This generates a Consumer key and Consumer secret. Note these, as you will need them in the next step.
  4. Set Permissions to Read/Write.

Step 2: Create your WooCommerce connection in Channable

  1. In Channable, open the project you want to import your product data to.
  2. Go to Setup, click + Set up import and select WooCommerce.
  3. Fill in the following information:
    1. For Label, give your channel a descriptive name.
    2. For WooCommerce URL, paste your webshop URL. 
      Important: Be sure to remove any extra / at the end of your URL. The URL should end with the domain extension(e.g. .com, .net)
    3. For Consumer Key, enter the consumer key you noted in the previous step.
    4. For Consumer Secret, enter the consumer secret you noted in the previous step.
    5. For Version, select your WooCommerce version.
  4. Click Connect with WooCommerce to finalize your connection.
  5. Check that your import fields are matched to the right project fields to ensure your import fields appear correctly in Channable.
  6. Click Save & Import when you’re ready.

 

Step 3: Review your imported items

You can check whether everything was installed correctly by going to Items in the sidebar for an overview of your products. For an individual breakdown of all your product information, click on the item and scroll down for its details.
 

Important: If you used WooCommerce's development environment test your connection, make sure you replace the dev URL in your connection settings with your live URL page to ensure your information updates (Setup > Settings (in [your WooCommerce channel]) > WooCommerce > WooCommerce URL).
