How to remove the background from an image

Use our AI-powered background removal feature to remove the background from a product image. The result is an image with a transparent background, which you save in a separate project field.

There are two places you can set up background removal:

In the Creatives tab:

1. Go to [your project] > Creatives > Image background removal.
2. Click +New background removal rule.

OR

In the Image Editor:

1. In the Image Editor, select the image that you want to remove the background from.
2. In the editing panel, click Remove background.
   
3. In the pop up, set up the rule:
   1. At Original image field, select the field that contains the existing image URLs.
      Note: 
   2. At Save it in, select the field where you want to save the images without a background. Create a new field directly from the modal (recommended) by clicking on +Add new project field.
      
      Note: Make sure that both fields are type ‘image’. 

The images with removed backgrounds will be saved in the field you selected. You can use this field in the Image Editor to create templates, in rules and in the product data that you send to your chosen channel or ad generator. 

When you go to Results, there may be fewer images than the amount of items in your project. This might happen if the same image URL is used for multiple items. For example, when there are multiple sizes and each size is a unique item in Channable.
