How to set up a Channable CSS Merchant
This article details how to add and set up a new CSS merchant for Channable CSS.
Step 1: Create a new CSS merchant
To create a new CSS merchant in Channable, follow the steps below:
Go to the CSS overview in the left menu of your screen, or click here to navigate directly.
Note: If you manage multiple Channable companies, ensure you’ve selected the correct company before proceeding.
Click on New CSS merchant to create a new merchant.
You will be prompted to select a Google Shopping connection, which we will cover in the next step.
Step 2: Add a Google Shopping connection
To use Channable CSS, you need a connection between Google Shopping and Channable to enable product data synchronization with your Google merchant center account.
Select existing Google Shopping connection if it already has the required access to use Channable CSS.
Create a new connection if no (suitable) Google Shopping connection exists, making sure it has the required access permissions.
In Channable, go to Company settings > Connections.
Click + Add a new connection.
Click through the numbered tabs until you find Google Shopping (usually tab 5 or 6).
Click Google Shopping > Connect with Google Shopping.
We'll redirect you to Google to log in to your account and accept any requested permissions.
Important: Verify that the Google user account you select has access to the Merchant Center account that you want to link with Channable’s CSS.
Step 3: Add merchant details
Once step 2 is all set and done, continue with adding the following information.
Enter the Shop name of the shop you wish to connect with.
Add your Google Merchant Center ID.
This ID can be found in the top right corner of your Google Merchant Center account. It can be a standalone account, multi-client account (MCA), or a subaccount of an MCA.
If you're unsure which ID to use, simply add the one you see, and Channable will validate your request to prevent any errors. For more information on the different merchant account types, refer to this article.
Step 4: Submit the request
When all the merchant details have been correctly filled in. Click Send request, and we will start processing your request.
Once everything is verified, we will invite your merchant to our CSS within 1 business day.
Step 5: Approve the CSS Switch in Google Merchant Center
Once the CSS switch is initiated, the admins of your Google Merchant Center account will receive a notification to approve it. The location of this setting depends on your account type, as explained on the Google help center:
Standalone or Multi-Client Account (MCA): Navigate to: Settings > Account settings > CSS users.
Sub-Account of an MCA: Navigate to: Settings > General account options > CSS users.
Below, we show how an admin can accept the Channable CSS request in merchant center:
Note: If you’re currently using a different CSS provider, there might be a 14-day grace period during which the switch is announced to everyone who has access to the Merchant Center account.
