December 17, 2025: Otto channels now pull in missing product safety data
On December 17 we completed a maintenance update to fully support the latest version of Otto’s product API (V5). This update allows us to automatically migrate any missing product safety information from Otto Seller Portals into active Otto channels in Channable.
This supports your channel hygiene by ensuring your listings remain compliant and reliably provide required product safety information for Otto, while reducing manual work.
Affected users:
Users with active Otto channels (APIs) where product safety addresses were defined in their Otto Seller Portal, but not yet configured in Channable.
Action recommended:
Review and verify changes: Check that the automatically created fields and rules are correct.
Best practice: Replace these placeholder/auto-generated fields with data directly from your import to make maintenance easier and ensure accuracy.
What’s changed
As part of a maintenance update to our Otto channel functionality, we scanned your Otto items for missing safety information. If data was missing, we cross-referenced the item SKUs to information from Otto Seller Central and made necessary changes to your channel setup.
If your channel was part of this update, you may notice the following changes in your project:
New project fields (identifiable as fields beginning with
otto_product_safety)New rules to fill the project fields (identifiable by [AUTOGENERATED] Set Product Safety)
These generated rules match product safety data from your Otto Seller Portal to items missing data through SKU matching, using the ‘search for value’ and ‘split text to list’ functionality for fields containing multiple values.
Added mappings in the Product safety section of the Build step using the new project fields:
Manufacturer or importer
Address
Region
Email
Url
Phone number
Roles
Components
Why we made this change
Otto recently enabled support for multiple product safety addresses through both the Otto Seller Portal and the Product V5 API.
While working on this update, we used a temporary solution that merged data from your Otto Seller Central portal and Channable. This interim solution was complex, and prevented us from improving our Otto integration.
We now fully support the latest Otto API version. By automatically migrating your existing seller data to your channel, we ensure:
Your channel meets the latest product safety requirements
You can reliably manage product safety information directly from your Otto channel
Our integration functionality stays reliable and easier to maintain for future updates
Frequently asked questions
What are product safety addresses?
Product safety addresses are the legally required contact details (such as the manufacturer or importer's address, email, and URL) that must be provided to show compliance with product safety regulations. Otto requires this information to ensure products listed on their marketplace adhere to the relevant legal frameworks.
What should I do if my data was incorrectly migrated?
If you notice any incorrect mappings or inconsistencies, we recommend reviewing and adjusting the data we auto-generated for you.
Check your mapping (Build step)
Go to the Build stepIn the Shared attributes tab, scroll to the Product safety (manufacturer information) attribute.Review mapped fieldsReview the mapped fields to ensure they align with your import data.
Check your rules
Find the auto-generated ruleIn the Rules step, find the auto-generated rule.Locate affected SKUIf the problem applies to a specific SKU, use the Search function (Ctrl + F, enter the item SKU) to find the relevant item and update your rule logic.SaveClick Save.
You can choose to pause the rule, or remove the mapped fields from the Product safety section.
Caution: If you decide to pause the rule or remove these fields, existing data in your Otto Seller account may be overwritten the next time you run your channel.
Why not continue merging Seller Portal and Channable data?
The previous version was an interim solution while we worked on something better. The workaround prevented us from deleting product safety addresses that had previously been pushed through Channable. This updated version saves you time, while allowing us to keep our integration functionality simpler and more reliable.
Why did you do this automatically, instead of contacting me individually?
We understand channel setups can be delicate. In this case, we prioritized minimizing the risk of listing disruption. To efficiently migrate our interim solution to full support for Otto V5, we determined the best strategy to be to migrate all affected Otto channels in bulk.
If these changes have caused significant disruption to your Otto listings, we’re available to help. Please contact our Support team.
Why did you need to create new rules?
Your products often have different product safety requirements and/or different responsible distributors. Simply applying the same address to all products may lead to non-compliance, which could result in listings being taken down.
We generated these new rules automatically to ensure that the correct, specific safety information was applied to the products that originally had it, making it easier for you to maintain compliance without having to manually set up individual rules.
