AI product categorization
AI product categorization helps you speed up the categorization process for your products. Using a machine learning algorithm, items can be automatically matched to the most likely product category.
Using AI product categorization
The following diagram illustrates the process of AI product categorization:

Set the category field
When you want to use AI product categorization to automatically generate categories, you need to set the category field.
We will use the field you select to automatically map your items to categories. Once this is done, you will be able to view the categories in the Categories step of your export channels.
When you set the category field, autocategorization takes place. If you don't want to use auto categories, you can use manual categorization, which will overwrite the auto categories.
The following screenshot displays an overview of how items are affected:
(1) Items that the algorithm was able to auto-categorize
(2) Items that are manually categorized
(3) Items that are excluded
(4) Items that aren't categorized yet
(5) The item categories from the import feed
(6) and the API category that it was mapped to
(7) The list also displays the amount of items belonging to this category. Click on this number to view the list of items belonging to this category. The progress bar shows the percentage of categorized items.
Create manual rules
To improve or change the categories input field, you can use master rules. For example, a title is converted to a product_category, because the product_category field is selected in the category field in the settings tab.
Alternatively, you can manually add categories by auto-generating categories based on an input field. The feature will suggest manual rules based on the uncategorized items.
Use the More actions dropdown to perform actions such as copying categories from different projects, deleting, pausing, or activating rules.
If you pause rules that categorize products, these products will be excluded from the categorization. They will show up in the status bar as “excluded”. When you click Save, the categorization rules are executed and the count of how many products are in each category is refreshed.
Manual categories always take precedence over auto categories. Any item categorization created with manual rules will override the auto-categorization of these items.
Whenever the AI product categorization algorithm is not certain that a product belongs to a category, it will be placed in the Uncategorized items tab. When you set up the rule we will still show the most likely categories based on the predictions of the algorithm in the “set to category” drop-down. These suggestions are ranked from high <> low prediction certainty.
Removing auto-categories
Remove the category field from the settings tab to start over or to completely remove the auto-categorized products. This will return you to the categorization overview with the message “category field has not been set”.
