In this article we will explain the status settings in your Google Text Ads generator. There are two settings: Google Ads status and Sync status. You can find these settings after creating a Google Text Ads generator, under the first step "Settings".

If you still need to create a generator with your Google Ads account you can take a look at this article: Adding a new Google Ads connection

Google Ads status

First you set the Google Ads status — with this setting you configure the initial status of the Google Text Ads campaign. There are two options:

1

Send as enabled

Channable will push everything as enabled.

2

Send as enabled, send campaigns paused

Channable will push the campaigns paused, resulting in paused campaigns in Google Ads that can be activated manually in Google Ads. When you set this option it is not possible to select "Sync everything" in the sync status setting. This is because you already decide here that you want to send the campaigns paused, so you do not want to synchronize everything.

Three different sync status options in Channable

There are two different statuses in Google Ads: active and paused. Every campaign, ad group, ad, (negative) keyword, etc. can be active or paused. The sync status you set up in Channable determines which status information is leading: the information set up in Channable or the information set up manually in Google Ads. These different sync status options can be configured in the Settings step of the ad generator

In the Settings step of the ad generator there are three sync status options to choose from:

1

Sync everything

Channable will always overwrite manual status changes in Google Ads if they are different from the status known in Channable. If a campaign, ad group, ad, keyword or negative keyword is active in Channable it will be set to active in Google Ads. The same goes for paused — if it is paused in Channable it will be paused in Google Ads.

Note: If you select "Sync everything", Channable will also send tracking parameters to Google Ads. If your campaigns or ad groups in Google Ads already contain preexisting tracking URL parameters, Channable's won't override them. These existing parameters must be removed manually in Google Ads if you want to use Channable's tracking settings.

2

Sync everything except campaigns

Channable will not overwrite any campaign statuses, but will overwrite the status of ad groups, ads, keywords and negative keywords if they are not the same as in Channable.

We recommend using this setting if you want to manually manage the status of the campaigns in Google Ads.

3

Sync everything except campaigns and ad groups

Channable will not overwrite any campaign nor ad group status. This means Channable will try to keep the statuses of all objects (keywords, ads, etc.) in sync, except for the statuses of campaigns and ad groups. So you can manually pause/activate campaigns and ad groups in your Google Ads account.

We recommend choosing this option if you want to manually manage the status of both the campaigns and ad groups in Google Ads.

Note: "Everything" refers to the statuses of all objects in Google Ads. With objects, we mean campaigns, ad groups, keywords, ads, etc.

So keyword statuses will always be synced; no matter which setting you choose in Channable. If you want to pause keywords, you need to exclude them from Channable. We never "remove" things from Google Ads, so they can be excluded safely. We only "pause" when it's excluded.

Exception

There is one exception for which a campaign or ad group is always paused by Channable. If all the items that make up an ad group or a campaign disappear completely from your import data in Channable, we will always pause the corresponding campaign or ad group to make sure you never advertise products or services that no longer exist.
