How to migrate an existing Facebook feed to a new Meta feed
Note: The new Meta feeds are available in Channable. You can continue using your existing Facebook/Instagram feeds but if you want to use a new Meta feed, you need to create one. The benefits of migrating are:
The new feeds match the available catalog types in Meta Commerce Manager.
The new feeds are up to date with Meta’s requirements and are fully maintained.
Step 1: Determine which new Meta feed is suitable for your existing Facebook feed
Migrating a Facebook feed to a Meta feed is a manual process. First, you need to determine which new Meta feed is suitable for your existing Facebook feed:

Step 2: Create your new Meta feed
Create the Meta feed with the correct specifications in your Channable project. Follow these steps:
Go to Projects > [Your project]. To make migration easier, use the same project that also contains your Facebook feed.
Go to Channels and click +Create channel.
Select the Meta feed that you chose in Step 1.
Tip: Use one of our Meta feed setup guides.
Step 3: Categorize your items
In the Categories step, the categories between your existing Facebook feed and the new Meta feed are not the same, as the Meta feed uses Google's categorization model.
There are two options:
Option 1: You already have a Google Shopping feed setup with categorization:
Go to the Manual Categorization tab.
Click Copy categories.
In the dropdown, at From channel, select your Google Shopping feed.
Click Copy here.
Option 2: You don’t have a pre-existing Google Shopping feed.
You can either use smart or manual categorization to categorize your items.
Step 4: Copy your rules
In the Rules step, copy the rules from the existing Facebook feed:
Click Copy rule(s).
Select the following:
Your project at the From project dropdown.
The correct feed at the From source dropdown
Select all the rules you want to copy from the list.
Click Copy here.
Review the rules that you have copied to your new feed. Some rules from your Facebook feed may no longer be applicable because of Meta’s new fields.
Step 5: Map your fields
In the Mapping step, map your internal fields to Meta’s feed fields.
Differences in fields
Field
Previous Facebook format
New Meta format
Note
Shipping
A single field shipping, with format: COUNTRY:STATE:SHIPPING_TYPE:PRICE
Separate fields for each section:
shipping.country, shipping.region, shipping.service, shipping.price
The Facebook feeds combined all shipping information into one field, while the new feed separates them into distinct fields.
Applinks
Each applink type has its own field
Two fields: applink.type and applink.value
The Facebook feeds had individual fields for each applink type, while the new feed consolidates them into two fields.
Example:
In your Facebook feed, you have mapped:
applink_android_app_nameapplink_android_package
In your Meta feed, you should map a list containing these field names to:
applink.type (i.e. [applink_android_app_name, applink_android_package]).
You need to map the list of actual values for these applinks to applink.value. Make sure the lists are both ordered in the same way.
Step 6: Replace your old Facebook feed URL with your new Channable Meta feed in your Meta catalog
Once you have step up your new Meta feed in Channable, we suggest that you do the following:
If you have no errors and your products are correct, replace the feed URL of your existing Meta catalog from the old Facebook feed with the new Channable Meta feed URL.
Important: Make sure that your product ID remain the same across both feeds, otherwise Meta will create new products instead of updating the existing ones.
Remove the test catalog that you created in Meta.
Now that your new Meta feed is setup and connected to your Meta catalog, deactivate and remove your old Facebook feed in Channable.
