In this article, you’ll learn how to connect and manage your existing bol ads campaigns in Channable. To set up brand new bol ads campaigns, follow the steps outlined in our article 'How to set up bol ads campaigns' instead.
What you’ll need
- A bol seller account
- A company in Channable
- A project in your company in Channable
- Valid EANs for your products
Choose your use case
- I want to connect to my existing automatic campaign(s) on bol.
- I want to connect to my existing manual campaign(s) on bol.
Set up an automatic campaign generator
If you’ve already imported your bol listings to your Channable account, skip to Step 3.
Step 1: Download your bol listings

- Log in to your bol Seller account.
- Go to Artikelen > Mijn artikelen.
- Select the items you want to export by clicking the checkbox. To select all products, click the checkbox ‘Selecteer items uit de lijst om acties op uit te voeren’. You can download up to 150 products at a time.
- In the Bewerk productinformatie section, click Download Excel-bestand to create an Excel template with your product data.
- Review your data to make sure all necessary data is included (e.g. product names, EANs, descriptions).
- Convert your excel file into an accessible online file format.
Step 2: Set up your import

- Log in to Channable. In [Your project], go to Setup.
- Click Add import and select your file import type.
- Fill in your import information.
- For Name, use a descriptive name.
- For file URL, paste the URL from your import feed.
- Click Save.
- In the Edit mapping tab, map any missing fields.

- In [your Project], go to Shopping ads > Bol ads and click + Add dynamic Bol Ads channel.
- Click + Add a new connection and select Bol ads.
- Provide a label (name) for your connection (e.g. “bol”). This name is only used within Channable to help you find your connections.
- Click Connect with Bol ads. We’ll redirect you to log in to your bol account.
After you log in, bol will direct you back to Channable, and your connection will appear.

- Select the Bol channel and click Next.
- Click on the bol ads connection and fill in in the following information:
- For Name, give your channel a name.
- For Unique ID per item, select the EAN field.
- For Use master rule group (if applicable): select a master rule to apply to your ads.
- For Status, ignore this for now, as we still need to set up the remaining parts of your shopping ads before we activate it.
- Click Save.
Step 5: Set up rules
- Navigate to the Rules step.
- Add rules based on your campaign goals.

- Go to the Campaign step and click + add campaign generator.
- Fill in the information.
- For Name, name your generator. This name is only used within Channable to help identify your campaign among other campaigns. You can set up an official campaign name (that will be visible to bol) in Campaign settings in the next step.
- For the Targeting type, choose Automatic.
- Go to the new Rules step in your campaign generator. Here, you can set up specific rules tailored to a specific campaign. For example, if you only want to advertise a specific brand, you can exclude other brands.

- Go to the Build step.
- In the Campaign settings heading, fill in the following information.
- For Campaign template, set up the template name using the same format that you use in your existing bol ads campaigns. You can find this in the Campaign Overview section in your bol seller account.
- For Countries, select the country/countries you want to advertise in.
- For Targeting channels, select where you’d like to advertise.
- For Daily budget, set a daily budget for your campaigns. This can be a static number or a dynamic field. To have an unlimited budget, enter 0.
- For Total budget, set the entire budget for your campaign (i.e. your piggy bank). To have an unlimited budget, enter 0.
- Set a ACoS target percentage to align your ad spending with your ad performance. This guides bol’s algorithm to meet your ACoS (Advertising Cost of Sales) target. This is a dynamic field.

You can create multiple ad groups per campaign to organize your ads, making them easier to manage and review. This also helps ensure your keywords align with relevant products.
- In the Ad groups heading, complete the following information:
- The Ad group template field allows you to generate several ad groups at once. Fill in a static value to create just one, or add a dynamic field to create multiple campaigns based on the dynamic value.
Example: Create ad groups at brand level
- For Targeting pages, select where you’d like your ads to appear on bol.
- Search - on the search page.
- Product - on the product details page when a product is being viewed.
- Category - on the category pages.
- Click Save.
Step 9: Set up negative keywords
Step 9: Set up negative keywords
Fine-tune your campaign with negative keywords that stop your ads from showing when certain search terms are used. Negative keywords help prevent Ads from being shown to customers searching for irrelevant products.
- Go to the Campaigns step. In the Edit column, click the Build step for your automatic campaign. This takes you to the Negative keywords tab.
- Click + New negative keyword. Build your keyword using one or more of the following options:
- Use dynamic fields - Click the + icon to select and add a dynamic field. You can also use a dynamic keyword list field, if you’ve created one.
- Manually enter keywords - Type specific keywords to control which search terms to exclude your ads from.
- Copy keywords - Click Copy keywords to duplicate keywords from another campaign.
- In the Type column, select the way/s you want your products to be searched:
- Phrase - Your keyword triggers if the keyword is part of a longer search phrase
- Exact - Your keyword triggers if the keyword exactly matches the search
- Click Save.

The preview step provides an overview of your campaigns, so you can review them before they go live on bol.
- Go to the Preview step.
- Review your ads.
Step 11 (recommended): Create automation rules
Step 11 (recommended): Create automation rules
You can create automation rules to optimize your keyword performance based on performance data from bol. Bol supports certain automation rule types.
- Go to the Automate step and click + Create rule group.
- Configure the rule group:
- For Name, give the rule a clear, descriptive name.
- For Campaign selection, select the campaign you’d like to apply the rule group to.
- For Date range, set the date range of the performance data for the rule to read from.
- Click Add automation rule.
- Define the If, Filter, and Then parts of your rule based on your goals.
- Click to activate your rule. Click Save.
You can review all the actions that your rules will trigger once you run your campaign in the Action log tab.
Step 12: Launch your campaign
- Click on the Settings step of [your bol ads channel].
- At ‘Status’ click Activate API, and Save.
- Go to the Campaigns step.
- In the Settings step (in Campaigns), at ‘Status’, click Activate and Save. Repeat this step for each campaign you want to activate.
- Return to the Settings step of [your bol ads channel] and click Run now.
Set up a manual campaign generator
Manual campaigns give you full control of your bidding and targeting. You can assign positive and negative keywords for your campaign and set the maximum budget you’re willing to pay per click.

You can create rules to apply across all your campaigns. For example, you may want to create a rule to exclude products without stock from being added to a campaign.
- Navigate to the Rules step.
- Add rules you want to apply across all your campaigns.

- Go to the Campaign step and click + add campaign generator.
- Fill in the information.
- For Name, name your generator. This name is only used within Channable to help identify your campaign among other campaigns. You can set up an official campaign name (that will be visible to bol) in Campaign settings.
- For the Targeting type, choose Manual.
- Go to the new Rules step in your campaign generator. Here, you can set up specific rules tailored to that specific campaign generator. For example, if you only want to advertise a specific brand, you can exclude other brands.

- Targeting channels: Select where you’d like to advertise.
- Daily budget: Set a daily budget for your campaigns. This can be a static number or a dynamic field. To set an unlimited budget, fill in 0.
- Total budget: Set the budget for your entire campaign (i.e. your piggy bank). Your campaign automatically pauses when your ads reach the budget limit. To set an unlimited budget, fill in 0.
- Set bids: Set a default bid for your keywords. This is how much you’re willing to pay for each click on your ads.
- Click Save.

- In the Ad groups heading, complete the following information:
- The Ad group template field allows you to generate several ad groups at once. Fill in a static value to create just one, or add a dynamic field to create multiple campaigns based on the dynamic value.

- Go to the Campaigns step. In the campaign generator you created, click the Build step and go to the Keywords tab.
- Click + New keyword. Build your keyword using one or more of the following options:
- Use dynamic fields - Click the + icon to select and add a dynamic field. You can also use a dynamic keyword list field, if you’ve created one.
- Manually enter keywords - Type specific keywords to control which search terms to push your ads for.
- Copy keywords - Click Copy keywords to duplicate keywords from another campaign.
- In the Type column, select the way/s you want your products to be searched:
- Phrase - Your keyword is triggered if the keyword is part of a longer search phrase
- Exact - Your keyword is triggered if the keyword exactly matches the search
- Click Save.

- Go to the Negative keywords tab and click + New negative keyword.
- Click + New negative keyword. Build your keyword using one or more of the following options:
- Use dynamic fields - Click the + icon to select and add a dynamic field. You can also use a dynamic keyword list field, if you’ve created one.
- Manually enter keywords - Type specific keywords to control which search terms to exclude your ads in.
- Copy keywords - Click Copy keywords to duplicate keywords from another campaign.
- In the Type column, select the way/s you want your products to be searched:
- Phrase - Your keyword is triggered if the keyword is part of a longer search phrase
- Exact - Your keyword is triggered if the keyword exactly matches the search
- Repeat these steps for each keyword you want to add.
- Click Save.

The preview step provides an overview of your ads so you can review them before sending them to bol.
- Go to the Preview step.
- Review your ads.

To get the best results for your campaign, create Automation rules to optimize your keyword performance based on performance data from bol. Bol supports certain automation rule types.
- Go to the Automate step and click + Create rule group.
- Configure the rule group:
- For Name, give the rule a clear, descriptive name.
- For Campaign selection, select the campaign you’d like to apply the rule group to.
- For Date range, set the date range of the performance data for the rule to read from.
- Click Add automation rule.
- Define the If, Filter, and Then parts of your rule based on your goals.
- Click on the cog and select Activate rule group. Click Save.
- Repeat these steps for the rules you want to create in the Keyword targeting and Keyword bidding tabs.
- In the Action log tab, you can review all the actions that your rules will make when your campaign generator runs.

- At ‘Status’ click Activate API, and Save.
- Go to the Campaigns step.
- In the Settings step (in Campaigns), at ‘Status’, click Activate and Save. Repeat this step for each campaign you want to activate.
- Return to the Settings step of [your bol ads channel] and click Run now.
