bol ads keyword targeting
This Help Center article guides you through setting up Bol Ads using Channable, a tool for product feed management and PPC automation. If you're new to Channable, you can create a free trial account.
The article: How to set up a bol. Ads campaign in Channable provides an overall guide.
Keywords Targeting
Keywords are matched against the search terms customers use in the bol. Ads search bar.
Positive keywords: display your Ads when they match the customer's search term.
Negative keywords: prevent your Ads from appearing for specific search terms.
bol. Ads supports two match types for keywords (you must select at least one; you may select both):
Phrase and/or exact for positive keywords
Phrase and/or exact for negative keywords
Match types explained:
Exact match: ad shows only when the search term exactly matches the keyword.
Phrase match: ad appears when the search term contains the keyword as part of a longer phrase.
Negative keywords prevent Ads from showing for irrelevant terms, improving budget efficiency.
Dynamic fields in bol. Ads can only contain one value per field. To target multiple values you must use a split rule in advance.
Note: keyword templates are limited to 20 templates per campaign generator in Channable.
Setting up keyword targets
If you are setting up a manual targeting campaign, you will have an additional option to add positive keywords.
Adding new keywords
Click New (negative) keyword. This opens a field — you have several options to create keywords:
Select a field from your data: click the (+) button and choose a dynamic field from your product data.
Manually enter keywords: type specific keywords directly into the field.
Copy keywords from other campaigns: use the copy keywords button to duplicate keywords from another campaign or generator for quick setup and consistency.
Remember to click Save after you set up (or delete) keywords.
Choose keyword match types
Under the Type section, choose how strictly bol. Ads matches your keywords with search terms:
Phrase match: ad appears when keyword is part of a longer search phrase.
Exact match: ad shows only when the search term exactly matches the keyword.
Deleting a keyword
To delete a keyword, go to the keyword’s Delete option and click the trashcan icon.
Automatic campaign
For automatic campaigns, only negative keywords are visible. The system automatically selects relevant keywords based on your product data and Ads, so you do not need to add positive keywords manually. You can still add negative keywords to prevent Ads from appearing for irrelevant terms.
Negative keywords
Negative keywords behave like positive keywords but have the opposite effect: if these words are part of a customer’s search query, your Ads will not appear. Use them to improve relevance and ensure your budget attracts the right audience.
