In your Bol.com seller account, you have the option to enhance your products by adding 'assets' such as images, videos, CE markings, and other relevant information. These assets help Bol.com organize product information to provide a better customer experience.
Managing labelled assets in Channable
In Channable, these assets are managed as 'Labelled assets,' which you can find under the 'Image' tab in the Build step of your Bol API. Follow these steps to select and manage your product views and assets:
- Access the Build Step: Navigate to the Build step of your Bol API in Channable.
- Navigate to the Images tab: Click on the Images tab.
- Select asset labels: Choose the appropriate label for each asset.
Images views
In your Bol.com seller account, you can select the 'view' for the images you upload (e.g., front, side, back).
Labeling your product images enables Bol to organize them efficiently. Each image can have a minimum of one and a maximum of two labels.
The order of image display on the product page is determined as follows:
- Labeled images: Organized based on the product category configuration.
- Images without a label: Placed in free positions on the carousel based on their quality scores.
-
Images with metadata (PRIMARY or ADDITIONAL):
- Position 1: Primary image.
- Positions 2-3: Additional images.
- Images without label or metadata: Organized based on their quality scores.
If you cannot label these images, use the 'Images' option below-labeled assets to send your main and additional images without a label. However, labeling your assets is the ideal approach. For more information about labeled assets, refer to the Bol API documentation.
Image Guidelines
To remain visible on Bol and Google, it is important that images meet the following guidelines:
- File size: Minimum 30 KB and maximum 10 MB.
- Image quality: Minimum 500×500 pixels and maximum 6000×6000 pixels (white spaces excluded).
- Background: Must be white.
- Content: Display only the item—no logos, watermarks, text, or mood images.
-
Main image:
- Do not use an image combining the front, side, and rear views in one image.
- The main image should not be a mood image.
- Do not use an illustration, drawing, logo, or icon to represent the item.
- No promotional elements: No price, discount, free shipping, or service expressions such as extended warranty.
- No frame: No frame around the image.
If images do not meet these requirements, an error message will be displayed in Channable, for more information about the requirements refer to this Bol article.
Additional optimizations applied by Bol
Each image undergoes several adjustments before appearing on the platform:
- Cropping: White spaces are cropped automatically.
- Quality optimization: The quality is optimized for the platform to minimize loading time, which may affect color fidelity and sharpness.
- Duplicates: When a duplicate is detected, the image will not be loaded. A duplicate is a one-to-one copy.
Managing CE markings, videos, and documents
You have the option to add an energy label and other relevant documents. Properly adding these elements ensures compliance with regulations and enhances the product listing.
Adding Videos
Videos can enhance the user experience and provide valuable information about the product. A valid product video must include the following:
- Label the video: Use the VIDEO label.
- Provide a valid URL: The URL must point directly to a video file (YouTube URLs are not valid).
- Content requirements: Ensure the video content is relevant and high quality.
Refer to this Bol article for more information.
Adding energy labels
Bol requires a new label for lighting products. To comply with the new classification ranges, products without this label will be removed from sale. Use the ENERGY LABEL 2021 in Channable for compliance.
- Label the document: Ensure the document is labeled correctly as an energy label.
- Upload the document: Upload the energy label in PDF format.
- Ensure accuracy: Make sure the energy label information is accurate and up-to-date.
Refer to this Dutch Bol article for more information.
Adding CE/ECE markings
CE/ECE markings indicate that a product complies with EU safety, health, and environmental requirements. To add a CE marking:
- Label the document: Ensure the document is labeled correctly as a CE/ECE marking.
- Upload the document: Upload the CE/ECE marking document in PDF format.
- Verification: Make sure the CE/ECE marking information is verified and corresponds to the product's compliance documentation.
Refer to this Bol article for more information.
Additional documentation
You can also upload manuals, warranties, and other documents relevant to your product:
- Manuals: Provide user guides and instruction manuals in PDF format.
- Warranties: Include warranty information and terms.
- Other documents: Any additional documents that support the product’s features and compliance.
By following these guidelines, you can effectively manage and optimize your product views and assets on Bol, ensuring compliance and enhancing the overall customer interaction with your products.
