Besides creating completely new shopping campaigns, Channable also has the option to connect to existing shopping campaigns within your Google Ads account. If the name of the Campaign or Adgroup in Channable matches what you have in your Google Ads account, then we will “connect” to that Campaign or Adgroup.
This means that we won't create a new campaign or ad group, but instead push other objects (such as Ads and Keywords) to those connected Campaigns and Adgroups. This allows you to keep the statistics you already have on Shopping campaigns and ad groups.
How do I connect to existing ad campaigns?
To connect to an existing Campaign or Adgroup, all you have to do is use the name of the already existing Campaign or Adgroup in the build stage. If you have a campaign called "My First Campaign", then in the campaign settings of the generator you would name your campaign as follows:
This works with static and dynamic fields, as long as the campaign name matches after the dynamic field values have been inserted into the name. For example:
This would connect to:
- My Nike Campaign
- My Adidas Campaign
- etc.
Where the bold part is the value that is in the dynamic field.
How do I connect to existing ad groups?
Similar to the campaigns, within a campaign you can connect to existing ad groups that are already part of the campaign you have connected to in the first step. Connecting to an existing ad group works the same as connecting to an existing campaign. The name of the ad group has to be the same as in your Ads account. Similar to campaigns this can be done in combination with dynamic fields as well.
So let's say you have connected to the My Nike Campaign from step one. In that campaign, you have ad groups on a category level and want to connect to the different categories within the Nike campaign. You will have to set up the dynamic ad group name so that it will get the same name as the ad groups within your account, for example:
This would connect to:
- Nike - Title 1
- Nike - Title 2
- etc.
